Lilac Sunday

Lilac Sunday May 2008 was as perfect a day as I’ve had in recent years.  It was the 100th anniversary of Lilac Sunday at the Arboretum.  We were blessed with sunshine, cool air, lilting breezes.  A group of women of varying ages danced the dances of Isadora Duncan on the meadow, which was like a pastoral dream vision happening in front of my eyes–they might have been fairy sprites.  Most of the lilacs were freshly in  bloom.  And my two beloved old apple trees were huge with fragrant pink and white blossom.  Heaven on earth … bliss
